Not less than $14.42 per hour. Extra-curricular clubs/class sponsorships, and coaching positions available for additional salary.


Position assignment could include any of the following: media center/classroom assistance, class/media center supervision, student/teacher assistance, inventory of materials, shelving materials, cleaning/organizing media center, computer entry of resources (Destiny software), online communication with email. This work involves close interaction with staff and students. This employee is supervised by the principal. He/she is expected to exercise independent judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and react appropriately in crisis situations, as well as exhibit initiative, creativity, and organizational skills.


1. Possession of or ability to obtain Illinois Professional Educator License with Stipulations--Paraprofessional, or other ISBE educator license that requires a college degree. 2. Knowledge of high school students' needs and behavior. 3. Strong subject knowledge in core academic area or areas, including computer skills. 4. Experience with high school students preferred. 5. Strong behavior management skills. 6. Ability to move frequently in the media center/classroom and in various other parts of the school; ability to stand, lift, and bend as required to assist students and media center needs. 7. Ability to keyboard rapidly and accurately and use various types of software applications and assistive technology. 8. Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with staff and students.
